I feel comfortable enough in my Z that when I 'blip' the throttle and I usually get it to the RPM range that I want. Reving the engine and holding it at the desired RPM would take a bit more concentration, I think and it'd probably slow me down. :) This is why I emphasize the lightened flywheel in the writeup. Not only does it rev faster but it also compensates a bit if you're a little off on the RPM range blip. : I always "blip" the gas when downshifting, but don't mix it with braking. I usually just brake first, then blip and downshift. I have tried heel-toeing, but I always thought you had to "hold" the rpms where you wanted to as you shifted. This is tricky, lol. I will try just blipping and shifting at the same time, should be lots easier.
: Seems like I saw another writeup on here, and it said you were supposed to "hold" the rpms at a point as you shifted. Ie: hold the rpms at 5500 as you downshift into 3rd from your example above. Does blipping work just as well as holding? I have been making a conscious effort to try to remember max rpms of certain gears so I can tell if I will overev when downshifting, etc. : Mike
